Each year, thousands of tourists from all over the world visit Amsterdam, all with varying budgets. Everyone is guaranteed to have a place in the city which offers all sorts of price categories and design variations.


For those about to spend lots on a vacation there is the Amstel InterContinental , situated in the very heart of the city, it is the best, the most luxurious and of course the most expensive of all. This is the place where celebrities and royalty stay. Its convenient location near the old centre, important theatres, museums, restaurants and clubs makes it a perfect place to stay in Amsterdam.


Dam and surroundings

One of the most popular areas among tourists in Amsterdam is the Dam, with its square and Royal Palace. This area houses plenty of hotels. Among the more expensive ones is the Crowne Plaza Amsterdam City Centre, close to Centraal Station. This place allows an easy access to the boats for a tour of the canals. On Dam Square there is the beautiful Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky. Die Port van Cleve is less expensive and stands just behind the Royal Palace and the famous Bijenkorf, as well as the Tulip Inn Dam Square which is also of the same price category. For a less expensive budget hotels in this part of the city, there are De Korenaer and De Gerstekorrel. Both are within walking distance of all major tourist attractions.


Not far from Dam Square are the Leidseplein and Rembrandtplein. During summer these squares get filled with people and the terraces are main wanted spots. This is also the place to be if you're into clubbing. More expensive places are American Hotel and Amsterdam Marriott Hotel. Other hotels in the area include the Golden Tulip Amsterdam Centre and the Schiller on Rembrandt Square. There is also a set of comfortable youth hostels City Hostel Vondelpark, very close to Vondelpark. Also in this area a very reasonably priced Hotel Abba.


There is the famous workers' district, De Jordaan, nearby. What once used to be a rather tough area now has become one of the most popular residential districts. Ramada Amsterdam City Centre is located here.


The Museumkwartier is the area around Museumplein (Museum Square) where all of Amsterdam's major museums are situated within walking distance, including the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum and Stedelijk Museum (Municipal Museum). Among the more expensive accommodations in the area is the Bilderberg Garden Hotel, while the Ambassade Hotel is a bit less demanding. The Banks Mansion and Ramada Hotel & Suites Amsterdam are of a moderate price. A quieter area with the Hotel Heemskerk, just behind the Concertgebouw (Concert Building).


There is the Belfort Hotel located near the ring road, along the river Gaasp. Close to the airport there is the Hilton Amsterdam Airport Schiphol very close to the main terminal. There are soundproof windows provided in the rooms, so the noise stays out. City centre can be reached in 15 minutes. There is also the Sheraton Amsterdam Airport Hotel & Conference Center.


Most of the hotels in Amsterdam charge 5% city tax, which is usually not included in the given prices.
