Held every year since 2001 when Amsterdam''s 1928 Olympic Stadium was resurrected from years of neglect, this celebration of winter offers what is surely the finest tobogganing to be had in flatland. Providing they survive the plunge down the ice slide, kids can move on to some skating on the enormous artificial rink. Those with less adventuresome tastes can examine the Christmas-themed crafts for sale, or warm up with a mulled wine while listening to all manner of live music. Admission is free; event prices vary.
