In 1662, renowned architect Philips Vingboons built the structure that houses the Biblical Museum. Located on the Herengracht canal in Amsterdam, this museum is one of the oldest in the Netherlands. The museum has a vast collection of archaeological discoveries, artifacts from ancient Egypt, models of the temple of Solomon and Herod, and religious objects from the Judeo-Christian tradition. Its prized possession is the 19th century model of the Tabernacle, a reconstruction of the sacred shrine of the Ark of the Covenant. It has a display about the advent of the holy Bible, with clay tablets, fragments of papyrus and archaeological remains that narrate its tale of origin. Entrance fee: EUR6 for 18 years and above, and 13-17 years EUR3.
