This biennial celebration of international animation is unique in that it accepts both creative and applied animation such as music videos and even commercials. The program covers both new and retrospective material, and prizes are awarded for applied animation, and for both non-narrative and narrative short films. Screenings take place at the Filmtheater 't Hoogt, the Camera/Studio and the Theater Kikker in Utrecht, roughly 40 kilometres southeast of downtown Amsterdam. Ticket prices are roughly EUR5.90 for a day pass, or EUR25-29 for a 5-screening book. Festival passes were EUR61-73.
