This is one of the most important documentary festivals in the world, taking place every year at various cinemas around the Leidseplein. All films are either in English or have English subtitles, and compete for various awards: the Joris Ivens Award for long documentaries, the Silver Wolf Award for short documentaries, and the Fipresci Prize for first features. Past winners have included Nikolaus Geyrhalter's Elsewhere and Phie Ambo's Family. Most screenings take place at the Path City cinemas.
