The original Jewish museum was set up in 1932 in a small room at Weigh House. During the 1940 German invasion, most of the artifacts were confiscated and destroyed. Years later, in 1955 the museum was re-opened with only one fifth of the original collection. Private collectors and even the general public came forward with contributions to add to the collection. With this overwhelming response, the collection expanded and the museum was shifted to the Ashkenazi synagogue complex. It showcases the cultural and architectural contributions of the Jewish community through the ages and is open all through the year. Entrance fee: EUR6.50 for adults, children 6-12 years EUR2, children 13-17 years EUR3.
